NUMERICAL SIMULATIONS

Tensile, Axial splitting and Cone failure modes under constant velocity loading.

Simulations are based on the proposed wing crack damage model (Kolari, 2007).
The evolution of damage is initiated from the randomly distributed "pre-cracks",
which have been generated into each integration point. Both the size and the
orientation are random.

The model was implemented in ABAQUS/Standard FE software as a user subroutine.
The examples were analysed using a dynamic analysis method with implicit time integration.
